My WHY Factor

Why do I go to college, do my assignments, get to class everyday....
  • To be able to write my own check to live wherever I want to live and not have to feel stuck anywhere
  • To expand my knowledge, because I hate feeling like I don't know something I should know
  • To be able to one day go shopping and not even have to look at price tags, and give my children what they need and deserve
  • To feel satisfied with my accomplishments and know I did all I could do

Dream Locations

  1. I would need wherever I live to be in close proximity to mountains, the ocean, or a big city. A place that comes to mind that has all of that is Seattle. I need beautiful views, or the beautiful chaos of a big city.
  2. I need a place that doesn’t normally get over the high temperature of 90 degrees. I would rather be cold than hot.
  3. I would need to be about an hour or two hours out from the airport because I would love to be able to visit family more than once a year, my goal would be to visit once or twice a month because family is important to me.
  4. I would need to be in a place that also shows potential, and is moving along with the times. I couldn’t be stuck in an outdated enviroment.
  5. I would like a place that has a nightlife in a short drive proximity, but not anything that would interfere with the raising of children eventually.

5. I work a full weekend once or twice a month at On The Border in Highlands Ranch.
6. I chose CSU because I love being in Fort Collins, CO. I love waking up every morning with a view of the mountains, and being in such a friendly environment. I am also a business major, and for staying in state CSU was the best option for me by far with the amazing program CSU has to offer. I also love the commitment of the green movement here, and the influence it has over the school. I like the energy of all of the sports here as well, I used to cheer, so I love when people get really into games.
7. I chose business as a major because it is what I am good at and a good degree to have under your belt for the real world. It is such a broad major that I can mold to fit my needs in a career. I am interested in several fields such as finance, marketing, accounting, and even real estate for when we get out of our economic crisis.
8. My favorite ways to spend my free time is with my best friend doing any and everything. I will try anything once, and twice if I like it : ) I like to go on walks, swimming, shopping, and out to eat at fun and fancy restaurants.
9. Everyone I have met in the class I have just met being up here at CSU.
10. I don't know any faculty in the college of business yet, I am in the College of Business Mentor program so I am sure I will get to know Felicia very well though.
11. Yes! I would love to study abroad, preferably in Australia. I would like to study abroad to broaden my horizons, and be more culturally aware. I think it is so important to live outside of your comfort zone at times.
12. Business Week - Have heard of it, but don't read it
Fortune- Have heard of it, but don't read it
Forbes- Have not heard of it
The Economist-Have heard of it, but don't read it
BBC- Haven't heard of it
Denver Post- Read it weekly
Forbes Small Business - Have not heard of it
Wall Street Journal- Read it occasionally
13. I don't have any questions about CSU right now, or any questions pertaining to a concentration.

Part II
1. I am a very strong willed person who will do tasks as they are given to me by the deadline. I don’t always do well under pressure, it is important for me to start assignments right away and let my mind run with it from there. I am very neat and organized. I have a huge imagination and am very creative. I work very well with people, or all ages, races, and religion. I am also a very emotional person who shares how I am feeling which is one of my weaknesses as well. When choosing a concentration I would need one that could combine my math abilities, with my social skills, and creativity. I would also need to find something that I could enjoy and have fun with. Any thing routine I can handle, as long as it is satisfying, with new faces everyday. One of my weaknesses is that I get bored very fast, I like things to be constant, and if I am not around new faces all the time, my boredom takes over.

2. Accounting- Accounting may be a field I am interested once I learn more about it. It may not be for me if it is mostly working only with numbers. I like to work with numbers, and "crunch" numbers, I do really well in math, but in a career I would like a little more spontaneity. Accountants seem to make the best money out of college and receive higher rates of internships though. I would like to learn more about this major to consider it.

Management- Management has always been something that I have always been interested in. I like to be always know what is going on, who is doing what, and I love to help people. I think it would be very fulfilling to start with an idea and build it up to an actual business or corporation. I feel like I am a very responsible person, and also very approachable. I can give advice with out being condescending. I know how to make a person respect me as an authority status, and also be a friend to them, and not be consumed with power.

Marketing- Marketing is what I originally planned on my major being. My creativeness is what always pulls me toward this major. I like thinking about why people buy certain things, which commercials are being directed to whom, what advertisers true motives are, etc. I can always come up with fun catchy phrases and acronyms as well. I think marketing would be good fit for me. I would like to know what would be the best way to get into this career now as an intern. Which places around Fort Collins would be a good start?

CIS- Computer Information Systems would not be a concentration I am considering, for the sole fact that I do not want my whole career to be about computers. I have no problem working with computers, or always getting up to date with new computer software, but I need human interaction. I also feel as if I wouldn't be able to express my creativity in a job such as CIS. I would like to be furthermore acquainted with what they actually do though.

Finance- Management of large amounts of money sounds very appealing to me. I would have to learn more about this career though. I am not sure if you advise people how to spend their money, or what you do. I love making spread sheets on excel, power points, etc. I am not very informed of this, but it is something I am VERY interested in learning more about.

Real Estate- Real Estate was one concentration I always wanted to have under my belt. I feel that at the time this wouldn't be the best time for this concentration, but by the time we graduate I believe real estate will be booming again. Real Estate as well as Marketing has all of the traits I look for in a career as well. The people aspect, the numbers, and the creativity. I love show homes, and to be able to show them, and sell one, the accomplishment would be really rewarding. Also, I am very good at persuasion. This would be a serious job that you could make fun, and I really like that.

3. My four letters are ESFJ. Careers that would be suitable for me according to this test are Management, Public Administration, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Sales/Marketing Specialist, Fashion Merchandising.

I agree with both tests. I have taken these tests before, in a business class in high school, that is how I knew what major I wanted to be in. I am a very organized and systematic person. I finish assignments in a timely manner, I like quiet work places. Everything they said about my personality and work ethic is true.
